Alucol x Paul Coenen
Anodizing as an Art Form
Alucol has carried out the anodizing process for a unique project by designer Paul Coenen. This project, presented during Dutch Design Week 2024, consists of a series of design objects in which Coenen experiments with the aesthetic and structural possibilities of aluminum.
Through an innovative anodizing technique, a special color and texture effect has been achieved. Using a shrink-wrap dye process, dyes naturally flow over the aluminum surface, resulting in a layered, organic coloration. This gives each object a unique appearance, combining aluminum’s industrial character with a handcrafted finish.
For this project, the Section Column Light, Section Coffee Table, and Camber Stool have been anodized. Each piece demonstrates how anodizing not only provides protection and durability but also plays an essential role in design and artistic expression.
At Alucol, we are proud to have contributed to this innovative and inspiring project.
