Thon Hotel Svolvaer
4.000 m2 of aluminium sheets were anodised in the colours champagne, gold and colinal black.
The new Thon Hotel is placed in the idyllic fishing village of Svolvaer on the Norwegian Lofoten Islands. Alucol anodised its façade in three different colours for the façade builder Staticus.
The hotel offers 213 rooms, a restaurant, a breakfast room, and a conference hall. It is the venue for one of the largest fishing events in the world and is fully booked every year in March. In the conference room, the catch is weighed, the fish filleted by the guests themselves, then directly prepared by the chefs. In future, the hotel will attract national and international guests to generate income for the region all year round.
"We chose Alucol to anodise the façade because they thought about the implementation and the possibilities from the very beginning," says Raimondas Grebilauskas, project manager Scandinavia of the façade builder Staticus from Lithuania. The cladding of the hotel consists of 3 mm thick aluminium cassettes. For this, more than 4.000 m2 of aluminium sheets were anodised in the colours champagne, gold and colinal black. This gives the façade its contrasts worth seeing.
"The distance between northern Norway and the Netherlands should not be underestimated and required detailed planning of the entire production process. The aluminium cassettes were produced in Lithuania, anodised in the Netherlands, and shipped to Svolvaer after processing by Staticus in Lithuania. Thanks to intensive preparations and good communication, the whole process went smoothly. Alucol is a great partner, and we are happy to work with them," Raimondas concludes.
Thon Hotel Svolvaer will be completed in mid-2021: An international reference project with a façade contrasting the picturesque coastal location.
